About a year ago I mentioned the idea for a book about advertising on this blog. Now it's May 2017 and that book is about to get finished and printed.

The author, Philip Wrzesinski, has spilled the beans about his hands-on approach on how to create memorable advertising that generates sales. He is not talking about theory. Seth Godin does not exactly have the reputation of writing How To books for dummies. And his latest book Linchpin: Are You Indispensable? — to be released on January 26, 2010 (audio book on February, 9) will not be an exception.

It is Saturday, October 25^th, 2008. A special day. Today I have started and finished reading Tribes - We Need You To Lead Us written by Seth Godin. That's why it is a special day.


The book is dense

While reading, you feel the huge amount of observation, deep thought, and the tedious work that Seth Godin condensed into this little, tiny book.

The book might be tiny in format, but like the matter of a neutron star, it's heavy. Really heavy stuff that weighs a lot more than you probably can imagine.


No, no, wait!

I don't want to scare you away. It's fun to read this book, and it's a quick read, too. What Seth wrote sticks.

I am not sure, if I promised that I will continue to write about Seth Godin, but I do it anyway. Yesterday I have revealed a podcast about Seth's latest book Tribes. Today I will feature a TED talk related to his book “Purple Cow”.

The talk is about 18 minutes long and quite entertaining as well as educating. Check it out.

A timeless treasure.

Shortly after I turned on the computer this morning, I decided that I will continue to write about Seth Godin (↑). He was so kind to leave a comment on my lates blog post, “Tribes - A leadership book written by Seth Godin”

On September 12th, 2008 Seth Godin had recorded an exclusive interview style podcast done by and for his community Triiibes.com.

(I don't hot link there, because it is a private community — and will remain to be private — and all you would see is a login screen.)

Seth Godin got into the habit of doing something special with every book launch. His latest book Tribes is accompanied by a private social network Seth had created in August. Currently Triiibes.com has 3662 members.

The inside of the book cover of Tribes shows the avatars of some members of this network. You will remember that I wrote, “I got an invitation from Seth to join his network”. Yes, I am in. However, I did not make it on the cover… To bad. Not really. I just created a video showing all 3,662 members in 2 minutes and 2 seconds.

But how?

I recommend you read a book. Not any book of course. What about “The Effective Executive” by Peter Drucker for example. That's what I recommend.

Did you notice that I did not write about Web site development related — more technical issues — lately? For a simple reason:

That’s exactly how it should be, unless you are a developer, who deals with LAMP (*) issues on a daily basis. Since I am not a developer (anymore) my focus has shifted towards marketing and business related topics with occasional sidekicks to personal development.


Why do I want to tell you about Blog software today?
